Reading before or after school

Spending 20 minutes on their daily reading has great benefits for students.  You can improve your vocabulary, your test scores and stretch your imagination.  Reading is also a great way to relax before and after school.
Here are some great ways you to get your 20 minutes of reading done in PPS library while you wait for lessons to start, during lunch time or before heading home for the day.

Below you will find some ideas to help you get reading both on and offline in the library. Earn merits for your reading efforts.  Ask Ms O'Shea for more info.

  • Fiction collection: Browse our fiction collection in the backroom.  The books are divided by genre (Fantasy & Sci-fi, Mystery & Horror, Adventure, Funny & Girly, Slice of Life and Classics &Literature) to make it easier for you to find something to read.  If you can't find what you're looking for please ask Ms O'Shea
  • Non-fiction collection : Do you like to read facts?  Browse the main library to find non-fiction books that link into your school subjects.  There are also boxes of fun books available to read through.
  • Guardian Children's books: Quizzes, Book Samples
  • World Book Day Website
We also have a fact wall at the back of the library. Find a great fact and give it to Ms O'Shea and she will add it to the display.  We are trying to showcase as many great facts as we can!
