Independent Reading Projects No.3 & 4 : Numbers by Rachel Ward & Mal's Spell Book

Some students in Year 7 and 8 have been working on reading projects over the last few weeks and we will be featuring one on the PPS library blog every week between now and the end of the school year.

This week we are featuring two different projects.  One by a student in Year 8 and another by a student in Year 7, both inspired by brilliant books.

Sofia (Year 8) based her reading project around Numbers by Rachel Ward (Read more about the book and sample it here.) She chose it from the library as she likes thrillers, crime stories and horror.  Numbers is an usual book by a Brighton based author and it is the story of a teenage girl with an unusual power.  It combines supernatural elements with a modern thrilling story about the risk of terrorism.

Sofia wrote a diary based around the main character Jem.  She talked about the book really passionately and managed to convince 4 students in the class to try it.  Well done Sofia! We have more copies in the library so please come and borrow them.

Next up is a beautifully designed project based around 'Mal's Spell Book' by Sofia in Year 7.  This book was written by the team at Disney who made Maleficent the famous film and it is perfect for fans of this. Sofia was inspired by the fairy tale magic in the book and she created her own colourful spells inspired by this. Come and see this project in the library hanging near Ms O'Shea's desk!
